Prompt

A 15-second HORIZONTAL 16:9 cinematic post-apocalyptic short set in a ruined New York City. It opens INSIDE a stalled car as a zombie's face slams into the windshield, then follows ONE man racing a black muscle car through abandoned Times Square onto the Brooklyn Bridge, braking hard just short of a collapsed span. It ends on a twist: in the rear-view mirror a zombie rises from the back seat and lunges, and the frame cuts to black. The geography is compressed for the story. MAIN SUBJECT One man, about 35, short messy dark brown hair, dark stubble beard, grey-blue eyes, lean athletic build. Face streaked with dust, grime and a few small dried cuts on the cheekbone. Worn dark brown leather jacket with scuffed elbows over a dirty grey henley shirt, black cargo trousers, battered brown leather work boots. Fingerless black leather gloves on both hands. The same outfit in every shot. THE CAR: a black 1970s-style two-door American muscle car with no visible brand badges, matte paint dulled by dust, rust on the wheel arches, a dented hood, a cracked chrome front bumper, round headlights, grey cloth seats inside. THE ZOMBIES: emaciated grey-skinned infected people in torn, filthy everyday clothes (office shirts, hoodies, jeans), clouded white eyes, fast and jerky, running in loose crowds. Zombie make-up looks practical: no exposed organs, no excessive gore. LOCATION AND HEIGHT Ruined Manhattan, several years after the fall. TIMES SQUARE: dead black billboard screens with shattered panels, abandoned and burned yellow taxis, overturned buses, cracked asphalt with weeds, drifting smoke and ash, paper debris blowing in the wind. Skyscrapers 150-250 metres tall around the square, some with blown-out windows and black fire scars. BROOKLYN BRIDGE: the stone Gothic-arch towers and steel suspension cables stand intact, but the centre of the roadway deck has COLLAPSED, leaving a jagged gap of torn asphalt, bent rebar and hanging cables, with the East River 41 metres below. Behind the car the burning Manhattan skyline, several towers broken at the top, black smoke columns rising into the sky. Moving details in every shot: drifting ash, smoke, flapping torn banners, dust kicked up by the tyres. CAMERA AND LOOK Gritty cinematic realism, like a handheld war-documentary camera on a feature film. Anamorphic widescreen feel, subtle lens flares only from fire, natural hand shake in interior shots, smooth fast tracking in chase shots, slight motion blur on fast action, delayed focus pulls, faint film grain, muted contrast. ONE lighting condition for the whole video: a thick overcast smoke-haze sky, diffused dusty orange-grey daylight, no visible sun, soft shadows, desaturated colour with warm fire glow on faces near flames. No glossy lighting, no artificial rim light, no heavy teal-orange grading. Shots last 1.5-3 seconds, cuts land after a completed action. The camera crew is never visible. CONTINUOUS STORY 00:00-03:00 HOOK. Tight shot from the passenger seat on the man's face and hands. He twists the key in the ignition with shaking fingers; the engine coughs and dies. He twists it again, and at that moment ONE zombie slams its face and both palms into the windshield right in front of him with a loud bang; the glass cracks into a spiderweb around the impact point. The man jolts back against the seat and screams. On the third twist the engine roars to life and he slams his boot on the gas. 03:00-06:00 BREAKOUT. Wide exterior shot, low and three-quarter front. The car lurches forward from between two burned taxis in Times Square; the zombie slides off the hood, rolls across the asphalt and stays down behind the car. Dead billboards and smoke fill the background; a crowd of about 30 zombies turns and starts running toward the car from the far side of the square. 06:00-09:00 CHASE. Low tracking shot level with the front wheel, the car moving left to right. It weaves between abandoned yellow taxis; ONE zombie throws itself at the side, hits the front fender and is knocked away; the left side mirror snaps off and bounces on the asphalt. Quick cut inside: the man steers with one hand, jaw clenched, eyes on the road, cracked windshield in front of him. 09:00-12:00 ALMOST SAFE. Wide aerial drone shot from behind and above: the car races onto the Brooklyn Bridge, left to right, with burning Manhattan behind it. Ahead the collapsed gap in the deck is clearly visible. The car brakes hard, the rear slides sideways in a skid with tyre smoke, and it stops with its front wheels on the very edge of the torn asphalt. Chunks of concrete break off and fall 41 metres into the grey East River below, splashing. 12:00-15:00 TWIST. Interior shot from the passenger side, the man in profile with the gap visible through the cracked windshield. He exhales, his shoulders drop and he lets out a short shaky laugh, hands sliding off the wheel. He glances up at the rear-view mirror. Insert on the mirror: behind his head a zombie slowly sits up from the back seat, white eyes staring. Back on the man: his smile freezes, his eyes widen, and the zombie lunges forward over the seat toward him. HARD CUT TO BLACK at the moment of contact. SOUND Only diegetic sound tied to the events. Ignition clicks and a coughing engine, a heavy thud and glass cracking when the zombie hits the windshield, the man's scream, then a deep V8 roar. Tyres screeching on asphalt, distant zombie shrieks growing louder as the crowd runs, a metallic crunch as the fender hits a body, the side mirror clattering on the ground. Wind and crackling fire on the bridge, the long tyre skid, concrete chunks falling and splashing into the water far below. Then near silence: the man's heavy breathing, his short laugh, a low growl from the back seat, and the sound cuts out on the black frame. No music, no narration, no score. ESSENTIAL CONTINUITY Order of stages: hook inside the car, breakout in Times Square, chase between taxis, brake on the bridge, twist in the mirror. All are shown in order. ONE man and ONE car throughout. The windshield stays cracked from 00:02 to the end in the same spiderweb pattern; the left side mirror is missing from 00:08 to the end. The car always travels left to right in exterior shots. Every impact has a visible contact and a reaction; no body passes through the car or the glass. The car stops ON the edge and does NOT fall; the front wheels stay on the asphalt. The zombie in the back seat was hidden low and is not visible in earlier interior shots. Same smoky orange-grey overcast light, same ruined city, same outfit, gloves, stubble and grime throughout. Preserve his face, hair, outfit and footwear throughout. No repeated attempts, slow motion, teleportation, duplicated people, changing outfits, extra survivors, CGI appearance, cartoon zombies, excessive gore, captions, subtitles, title cards, logos, watermarks, recording interface.
